Obama's Speech

On August 28, 2008 history was made. Barack Obama is the first African-American to accept the Democratic Party's nomination for President of the United States of America. Obama's speech seemed to have several purposes one main point was warn all Americans that our nation is at a critical point. Every single citizen needs to make a choice on how our country should proceed. Obama said that we have had enough of the same old Bush McCain agenda. Other purposes of the speech were to paint a picture of Republicans as those who want to give more and more to the rich hoping that it will "trickle down" to the rest of us. By painting this picture of the Republicans, Obama was able to persuade Americans that we deserve better and we can get better. His big theme and push has been change. His intended effect was to urge Americans to finally discard all the problems in America and make life better for generations to come.
